Not long ago I wrote a post about high speed blenders and whether or not you need one. In that post I told you that I own a Blendtec blender and am very happy with it. Soon after I was contacted by Ninja and asked to review one of their blenders – specifically the Nutri Ninja | Ninja Blender DUO with Auto IQ.
Features
Not all Ninja blenders are the same. This one is a combination of the Nutri Ninja with three blender cups of varying sizes that you can use to blend a smoothie, screw on the travel lid, and go, and a regular sized Ninja blender.
There is a blade base that screws onto the bottom of the travel containers, and for the large blending jar, there is a tall shaft with multiple blades on it.
The motor base has touch buttons with three manual settings and an Auto IQ feature with 5 programs that take guesswork out of blending. The programs progress though different speeds according to what you are making to achieve the desired results.
My Thoughts
I really like the idea of one blender base that can handle both a large blender container and travel sized containers. I also like the varying sizes of the smaller containers. I can blend some pretty large smoothies, and the largest container is more than enough space for me.
The large blender does a really nice job of shaving ice, so if that’s important to you, you’re good to go with this machine.
I made smoothies in both the large jar with the tall blade shaft and using the smaller containers with the screw on blades. The results were pretty much the same. It does a good job of blending ingredients, even tough foods like kale, and everything was evenly blended.
Did it do as good a job as my Blendtec? No. While the smoothies didn’t have any chunks, the mixture still felt like it could be chewed just a bit. With a high powered blender, there is nothing left to chew.
I really didn’t like the blade shaft that goes in the large jar. It just plain scares me when it comes to handling and washing it.
Conclusion
This Ninja falls between a very expensive high powered blender and your run of the mill blender in both performance and and price. That probably fits the needs of many people. If you’re especially interested in having one blender to make both frozen drinks in a large blender jar and individual smoothies in a travel size jar, then you should definitely consider this.
You can purchase this Ninja Blender DUO from Amazon (affiliate link) or find it in stores like Bed Bath & Beyond and Kohl’s.
What are your thoughts? If you own a Ninja blender, how do you like it?
Disclosure: I was provided with the Ninja blender free of charge, but the opinions in this post are all my own.
I LOVE my Ninja – and use it multiple times each day!
I actually love the blade for the large jar is it means the ingredients move easily and are far more equally mixed than with most blenders. The price can’t be beat when compared to Blendtec or VitaMix blenders. It so perfectly meets my needs!
I was wondering if you tried to grind nuts into butter? How about grinding rice into flour or oats into flour? I am looking for an all purpose blender.
i really like my Ninja when it comes to almost everything except green smoothies. Just can’t get the spinach or kale fine enough.
