I have decided (at least for now) to stop doing the monthly challenges. My purpose was to encourage people to get creative in the kitchen and not always depend on a recipe. I also wanted people to try making things from scratch that they would normally buy a mix for or buy already prepared. We have covered many types of foods, and while I could repeat challenges, I’ve decided not to.
I don’t think, based in part on my reader survey, that the challenges are particularly helpful to the bulk of my readers. I has been fun and helpful to use the challenges as a theme for Gluten-Free Wednesdays. Therefore, I will continue to have themes for the carnival, and that switch to a theme rather than a specific type of food gives me a little more freedom. Especially in the coming months you will see more ingredient based themes rather than food types.
August Theme: Fruit Desserts
Starting this week I’ll be looking for fruit desserts that are linked up to Gluten-Free Wednesdays to highlight within my carnival posts. Depending on how many fruit desserts there are, I may still highlight beverages since you didn’t have much notice on the new theme.
