Meringue topping is easy to make and be used in a variety of recipes. You can use your favorite sweetener.
Yield:
Meringue Topping

Ingredients
- 2 egg whites
- pinch of cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup honey or 1/3 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Heat honey (or water and sugar) on med high heat until it comes to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 4 minutes.
- Whip egg whites and cream of tartar to stiff peaks, then slowly add honey or sugar mixture while continuing to beat until glossy stiff peaks form.
If I use this with the gluten free angel food cupcakes, do I treat it the same as a angel food cake, i.e., do I put the angel food cupcakes and frosting back in the oven to brown the meringue?
