Mary’s Gone Crackers Review & Giveaway

Linda Etherton

MGC 4 flavors Cookies

Until recently I was only aware that Mary’s Gone Crackers made crackers.  I didn’t know that they also make cookies and pretzel type snacks. I was honest with the company when they contacted me about doing a review.  I have tried their crackers and didn’t particularly like them.

The company contact understood and encouraged me to try the cookies and Sticks & Twigs snacks.  I decided to give them a try because I like the company.  Here is what they say about the gluten-free status of their products:

“At Mary’s Gone Crackers we have our own dedicated gluten-free facility. To avoid any possibility of cross-contamination, we do not bring ingredients containing gluten into our factory.

We also occasionally test our ingredients and our finished products to be sure that they are not contaminated. The test we use detects gluten at 10 parts per million (ppm). Our products and ingredients have always come up as ‘less than 10 ppm,’ which means no detectable gluten.”

Their products are gluten-free, vegan, organic, and contain ancient grains and whole foods.

But how do they taste?

I thought the cookies were great.  Each box has two packages of cookies inside which means that opening a box doesn’t mean that all of them need to be eaten before going stale.

The first ones I tried were the ginger snaps.  They were a hard crunchy cookie with lots of ginger flavor, just like a ginger snap should be.  After that, I thought maybe all the cookies would be crunchy, but I was wrong.

The double chocolate and n’oatmeal raisin cookies were soft.  The chocolate chip cookies were somewhere in between, I think.  My son opened those cookies while I was gone.  He ate one package and left the second one opened overnight.  The humidity made the cookies soft.  They were still very good, but not their original texture.  He said they were crunchy originally.

The double chocolate cookies were pretty soft too.  They were probably my favorite, but honestly it’s hard to choose.  I really liked them all and would buy them in the future.

The sticks & twigs are a pretzel type snack.  They are made from brown rice, flax, quinoa, sesame, amaranth, millet, and chia seeds. The sticks are hollow in the middle and come in three flavors sea salt, curry, and chipotle tomato.

My kids and a friend of theirs liked these okay.  They wouldn’t be their first choice for a snack, but if it’s their only option, they would eat them.  I liked them pretty well.  They have a very nice crunch to them, but sometimes I would hit a particularly hard seed or something while I was chewing.

The curry and chipotle tomato snacks were spicy, but not overly so.  Curry is not a favorite of ours, but if you like curry, I bet you will like these.

While the snacks are good by themselves, you can also use them for dipping in things like salsa or hummus.  Since I’m not a fan of spicy (even medium hot) foods, I particularly enjoyed the curry and chipotle tomato snacks dipped in hummus.  The hummus helped counter the spice and made it just right for me.

I LOVE Mary’s Gone Crackers crackers! I haven’t seen their snacks, pretzels or cookies, and wish I had them locally. I often eat their crackers for a tasty lunch with chicken salad in lieu of a sandwich…yum! Even my husband who is not GF liked them. My sister who also has celiac and lives in NYC loved them. In a word…they’re GREAT.

I love the Mary’s Gone Crackers crackers! I have not tried the Stix and Twiggs or the cookies. I’ve seen the Stix and Twiggs but I’ve not seen the cookies anywhere! I am particularly pleased to read that they package them in two separate packages so you don’t open them and have to figure out how to keep them fresh. I wonder if they would consider doing that for the crackers…..

I’ve tried Mary’s Gone Crackers Caraway crackers, chipotle tomato twigs, and most recently the chocolate chip cookies. I love the cookies, though not so much the twigs or crackers (most likely due to the particular flavors rather than the product itself). With my recently discovered corn allergy, these cookies are some of the only gluten free cookies that don’t use corn flour/corn starch, so they are a go-to snack for me now.

I have tried Mary’s Gone Crackers Organic Crackers in Canada. The crackers are fantastic, they are crunchy, nutty tasting, and full of flavour! Great as a snack alone or with toppings! I would love to try the cookies and the sticks & twigs products 🙂

I have never had any of the Mary’s Gone Crackers products, probably because I don’t think I’ve ever seen them at my local grocery store. However, they do look delicious, especially the cookies. I would love to try them in the future, maybe, as the lucky winner. 😉

I’ve seen the crackers and the Sticks and Twigs in the store, but haven’t tried them yet. I like the idea of having some “snacky” things around, but try not to get too carried away buying a whole bunch of gluten-free snacks since I have no self-discipline. 😉
