Send Gluten-Free Food to People Impacted by Hurricane Harvey
There’s been a lot going on for me the past few days, but I know it’s nothing compared to what others are dealing with because of hurricane Harvey. Tricia Thompson of Gluten Free Watchdog has been in touch with a food bank in Texas that is aware of the need for gluten-free food. We can help by sending gluten-free food packages to the food bank. Get all the information at Gluten-Free Watchdog and be sure to check all the updates at the bottom of the post.
Main Dish
Thai Peanut Wraps – Veggies, garlic chicken, and tangy-sweet peanut sauce make these Thai Peanut Wraps irresistible! They’re also dairy free and have a low-carb option
Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes – This recipe makes quite a bit and it can be increased if needed to feed a crowd at a Labor Day party! Serve with delicious homemade hamburger buns.
Hummus Crusted Chicken – Plain hummus works great but you could also try a flavored one in this skillet recipe.
Slow Cooker Cube Steaks – My husband doesn’t request this like he used to, but he still likes to be reminded of when it was on of his favorite foods.
Tilapia (or other light fish) with Tomatoes – I can’t find a good source for tilapia, but this is also great with cod or other light fish.
Pizza – With cooler September weather, homemade pizza is back on the menu. If you have a large family to feed, try my larger recipe, which is my family’s favorite.
Sides
Carrot Broccoli Bacon Salad – It’s always nice to serve vegetables in different ways, and this salad has the flavorful addition of bacon. You can’t go wrong with that!
Southwestern Pasta – This side dish is great for a cookout or could be packed in a school or work lunch.
Drop Biscuits – These biscuits are nice and soft in texture. They’re just delightful.
Breakfast
Cinnamon Pear Muffins – Cinnamon and pears make these muffins perfect for this time of year.
Banana Walnut Muffins – These grain-free muffins are made with coconut flour and are nice and moist.
Dessert
Carrot Cake – This remains my family’s favorite cake, and everyone loves it, gluten free or not.
Apple Crisp – This apple crisp is paleo but you don’t have to eat paleo all the time to enjoy it.
I was just thinking about being gluten free and being stuck in a disaster situation like Harvey! It would be really rough. I will have to figure out some way to help out. Also, this food looks amazing!
