Udi’s New Soft Tortillas Review and Giveaway

I recently received a package in the mail that really excited me.  It contained Udi’s new gluten-free tortillas.  As soon as I saw them, I knew they would be good.  In fact, I double checked the package to be sure they were gluten free.  They looked too good to be true.  But they are true.  And they are good.  And they are soft. Honestly, they’re amazing!

These tortillas do have to be heated properly in order to be soft and pliable.  I used the microwave method, placing a tortilla between layers of a damp towel.  It’s important to have your filling ingredients ready to go before you heat the tortilla.

Once the tortilla starts cooling, it is more likely to break.  However, once it is folded, it doesn’t break after it cools.  To give you an idea how soft and flexible these tortillas can be, here is one of the small tortillas wrapped tightly around a hot dog.

And here’s a large tortilla used to make a beef and bean burrito.  Gluten-free son and I thoroughly enjoyed our burritos.  They stayed wrapped and held together well while eating.  These tortillas are ruining my low carb diet!

If you miss flour tortillas, you definitely want to keep an eye out for these.  If for some reason, you’re not sure what to do with them, here’s a recipe from Udi’s.

Its always good to hear a product review. I get nervous trying new products without hearing a review first since I spent so much money on food that tasted like cardboard in my early GF years. 5. Caroline Cebula says

They even look good! Our only try has been rice tortillas, they were a mess. They looked so bad that I skipped the tortilla and had a salad! But those.. yumm yumm..

  6. B says

Can you tell me what the ingredients in the tortillas are? They use corn in their bread (not good for Celiac/Gluten sensitive people!) and I’m hoping they have learned and are not using corn in the tortillas.

  7. thereasa says

Seeing this made my heart smile! I was not a huge bread eater to begin with. Finding out I had wheat allergies eliminated that food for me. But I love food with tortillas and dearly miss breakfast burritos, easy roll up lunches and every mexican food possible!! Corn tortillas can only do so much. I am soo excited to find somewhere that has these! Thanks!! Are the wheat free? Its so simple to assume gluten free means wheat free, but that is not always the case.

  8. says

My son has Celiac and after trying pretty much every brand of bread on the market, his favorite has always been Udi’s. I have not seen these yet — how exciting! I’m getting bored with TJ’s brown rice tortillas. Love your site! :-)

I literally cried for almost three years when I lost my tortillas. I didn’t go a week without them. A addiction of mine I guess you would say. I have tried a few and didn’t like them becuase they were not soft or pliable to use. I am super excited to try these, I like the other products so I have very high hopes on the usefulness of these tortillas. 97. says

My son has had Celiac for almost 3 years now. It has been a difficult road for him at age 10. He is very small for his age and due to the Crohns. He is a very picky eater, so it makes his GF diet even more difficult. He loves tortillas, and has been eating the corn ones (even though he doesn’t care much for them, because they are so hard). He likes to spread peanut butter on them. I am excited that Udi’s has come out with a soft tasty tortilla. I would love to be able to have him try these. I often don’t purchase new products for him to try, because of the cost in our area being so high, and with him being picky, I end up throwing stuff away if he doesn’t like it. Thanks for sharing this great news!
