I’m not good at working a lot of personal information into my recipes and menu plans, so I thought I would give my readers a little update on a few things in my life.
First, you may or may not realize that I home school my kids—or rather I did. My youngest son graduated in May! That means I have graduated from being their teacher. Of course, particularly in the high school years, they took classes from teachers besides me. They had classes with other home schooled kids and took community college classes. But I have been responsible for overseeing their studies.
This picture shows me (in heels that make me look very tall), my husband, my parents, and my three sons, youngest to oldest. (Yes, my baby is now the biggest one in the family.)
My youngest has been taking community college classes for the past year and a half, so I haven’t had to spend a lot of time teaching him, but the responsibility and paperwork (we use an umbrella program that requires monthly reports as well as report cards) was always there. It’s a relief to have that over with, except for a few things to wrap up.
I plan to continue working from home. In addition to this blog, I am an editor and virtual assistant for several other blogs. So not a lot will change for me, but it’s a big milestone that’s worth sharing with you all.
Also, I wanted to share that my second oldest son is now gluten free. My oldest has been gluten free for about years. My husband is also giving the gluten-free diet a shot, so currently, four out of five of us are gluten free.
But there’s more big news. My two oldest sons are both engaged and plan to get married in the next six months! The weddings will be a couple of months apart. We love both of the girls, and it’s so much fun having girls around regularly. One of them is gluten free (as well as most of her family) and the other one fully understands how important it is. Both are good cooks. It’s an exciting and busy time!
My husband and I celebrated 25 years of marriage this summer. We love and enjoy each other more than ever and are looking forward to many more years ahead.
I hope everything is well with all of you. Thanks for being my loyal readers. I enjoy your comments and emails, even if I’m unable to reply to all of them.
