MadeOn: Hard Lotion Review & Giveaway

In a recent post about skin care products, I stated that I prefer to use products that are gluten-free.  MadeOn: skin care products are gluten free.  They contain only a few ingredients, and they work great!

I was recently sent samples of their hard lotion and lip balm, and I was really impressed.  First, you might be wondering what hard lotion is.  In the lower left hand corner of the picture above, you see a hand holding what looks like a bar of soap.  It’s actually a bar of hard lotion.  All you do is rub the bar on your warm skin.

Hard lotion is intended to be used on those particularly troublesome dry areas of skin like hands, elbows and heels.  In our humid summer climate, dry skin is not as much of a problem for me as it is in the winter.  However, I do still have dry heels in the summer, and they are there for everyone to see since I where sandals all the time.

I’ve tried a number of foot care products including files and stones that scrape the dead skin off and lotions and ointments to keep skin moist.  I’ve used Avon and Burt’s Bees and other brands, but nothing has worked as quickly or effectively as this MadeOn: hard lotion.

Seriously.  I saw a difference the first time I used it.  I have no more dry white cracked skin around my heels!  At first I put the lotion on at night and in the morning, but now I only use it at night.  I can’t wait to see how it helps during the cold dry winter months.

There are three varieties of hard lotion.  The Bee Silk contains beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter.  The Au Chocolat contains beeswax, coconut oil and cocoa butter (it has a light chocolate scent), the Bug Block contains beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, essential oils of citronella, cedarwood, and lavender.

The Bug Block does seem to be effective at keeping bugs away, but it also has a strong scent to it.  I put some on before working in my garden and then wanted to wash it off.  However, I found that with the beeswax, it doesn’t wash off easily.  I had to wipe it off first, then use hot water to wash it off.

The lip balm is very nice, but honestly, I don’t have much trouble with chapped lips in the summer.  I particularly like the peppermint lip balm.

I’m interested in this product since I have a difficult time with dry, peeling hands all year long. I’ve found a couple of creams that will temporarily help, but need reapplication several times a day. I’d love a product I only had to use a couple times a day.

I like the idea of the solid lotion because it isn’t something my little ones can squirt all over the bathroom! And that it has no preservatives. Love the idea of chocolate lotion!

  20. Barbara says

Thank you so much for this post!! I love the idea of “hard lotion”. I am funny, I do not like the wet feeling of lotion and neither does my teenage daughter. Maybe we can both use it more often with a hard bar!! I react strongly to scents also but the two you described I know I can handle!! I too have issues with my heels all year round, would love to try this product!! I’ve learned so much for your postings…keep up the great work, you are really helping people!!
