Kitchen Tip: Something New

Kitchen Tip Button

When you spend a lot of time in the kitchen, you can sometimes get tired of it always looking the same.

Give your kitchen a fresh look by adding something new.  It could be a fresh coat of paint, new artwork, fresh flowers, a candle, or some other new decorative piece.

It doesn’t have to be expensive.  You might find something at a yard sale or in the clearance isle.

Recently, some friends were getting ready to move and were cleaning out their garage.  My son was there and he came home with a number of items including a set of dark bowl type plates and some eucalyptus.

I decided to use one of the plates as a fruit bowl on my kitchen table and put some of the eucalyptus into a vase beside it.  It was simple and free, and it added a new look to my kitchen table.

  1. It is true that we can get tired of the same things in our surroundings. When I get tired of the way my kitchen looks, I move the toaster oven to another location on the counter, etc. Moving little things like this makes a difference for me. I like you idea to buy a new item to enjoy. Especially from a yard sale.

  2. I couldn’t help but laugh when I read the typo of fresh coat of pain instead of paint. So many times my kitchen has been the place of healing, sliced fingers, adjusting to a gluten free life, listening to a friend over lunch.

I haven’t changed anything recently, but am considering a few options, everything seems so boring right now, even though I have bright paintings my son did hanging on the walls. I’m thinking of painting the chairs in blue or barn red.
