Kinnikinnick Soft Breads: Review & Giveaway

There is a new soft gluten-free bread in town, and it is pretty amazing.  Kinnikinnick has recently come out with two new loaves as well as hamburger and hot dog buns.

What’s Great About It

  • All of them are very soft and stay that way after a couple of days and after being frozen.
  • The loaf breads (multigrain and white) are full size loaves.

Those two things alone have sold me on this bread.  I don’t buy a lot of gluten-free bread, but when I do, this will now be my go-to brand.

What’s Good About It

  • Price of the loaves.  The breads I tried were sent to me directly from Kinnikinnick so I have not bought it in stores.  But the price shown on their web site is $4.99 per loaf.  As far as gluten-free bread goes, that’s a very good price for a full size loaf.
  • The breads are all packaged in sealed plastic bags.  I have had trouble with other brands often being dry, and I have wondered if it had to do with the fact the plastic bag is not sealed.

What’s Not So Good

  • The bread breaks easily.  I noticed this with the loaf bread, not the buns.  Although it is soft, it still breaks.  It’s manageable and doesn’t deter me from preferring this bread because of it’s benefits, but it is noticeable.

Other Information

  • A package of hotdog or hamburger buns contains four buns.  Their site lists them at $4.59 per package.  That’s not a bad price compared to other brands, but based on price, I would prefer to buy a full size loaf of bread and use that for a hamburger or hot dog.
  • The buns are not cut, which is not unusual.  As you can see in the above photo, they don’t fold open (I don’t know a gluten-free bun that does).  You slice the buns in half, and it works fine.

Where to Buy

First, be sure that you are getting their new bread.  The label has a yellow background.

You can purchase from the Kinnikinnick online store or use the store locator to find their products near you.

Yes, I’ve tried their oreo type cookies, which are kinnitoos I think? Something like that but they are really yummy. I can’t remember whether I’ve tried anything else of theirs.

  4. Catherine says

  5. Laura Sherrod says

Love the bread. Placing another order to stock up because my grocer doesn’t carry it. I spend too much time and gas driving to all the different stores. The chain grocer doesn’t carry the same stock in each store. We love Kinnikinnick GF bread and all of the other foods.

  6. Jesica Ronning says

I have used their vanilla cookies for coconut tarts and my whole family loves them!

I am brand new to gluten free due mostly because of the connections gluten has to ADHD and eczema. The bread has been the most difficult thing for my kids to change and am excited to try this brand!

I don’t think I have tried any Kinniknnick before. I might have if it was at VegFest, but I don’t remember!

  20. Blue says

I have already tried Kinnikinnick KinniToos Chocolate Vanilla Sandwich Cookies. I might have also tried their KinniToos Vanilla Sandwich Creme Cookies, but I can’t remember. The cookies I had were good, although my gluten-eating husband told me that they did not taste as good as the commercial gluten cookies at all. I would love to try the different types. If I like them enough, I might finally get a chance to stop having to bake bread myself.

  21. sandrag says

I enjoy the cookies all of them.. But I love the crispy rice cereal better than any other brands…. I would love to win the bread package…..

  22. Shari Hegland says

I think the only things I’ve tried so far is their “graham” crackers, and those are a nice alternative to still be able to share s’mores with the rest of the family in the summer.

  23. Maria Meyer says

Love their pizza crusts and their “graham” crackers..Graham crackers have always been one of my “go to snacks” since I was a child and it was nice to find a gluten free alternative that tasted like the regular ones.

  27. Deanne Johnson says

Question–do I need to post a comment on your blog plus the other options (liking on Facebook, commenting on e-mail, etc.)? I have wondered about this for a while. After all, I don’t want to disqualify myself from winning…;)

    • says

Hi Deanne. I’m sorry it’s confusing! You can enter up to four times based on the four options listed in the post. You need to leave a separate comment here for each entry. For example, if you post about the giveaway on Facebook, you then come bake and leave a comment telling me you did that. If you like Kinnikinnick on Facebook, you leave a comment telling me you did that, etc. Make sense?

  28. Lisa says

  49. Michelle says

I have added this brand to my shopping list. I’m hoping I will be able to find it in one of my local stores. Your review makes me excited to find this bread. I’m much like you in opting away from bread more often than not to avoid the disappointment.

  50. Lauren says

I’ve tried the cinnamon sugar doughnuts and they are pretty good. Love Kinnickinnick stuff!

  51. Lauren says

  53. says

I haven’t tried any of there products, none of the stores in my area seem to carry them. I would love to try this new bread though!

  54. Bonnie says

I have tried all of these products. They are AMAZING!!! I can’t find them in my area yet, but they are awesome. If you need gluten free, they are the best out there. So tasty and soft. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Now I need for myself and my son. Please Kinnikinick get them out to other stores in the New Jersey area.

You all really, really need to try these breads and rolls. You will NOT be disappointed. No other gluten free products can compare. So much better
than all of those other frozen breads that are out there. And the price is pretty
reasonable for gluten free, very competitive. Not bad at all. Everyone you have to try these new breads!!!

  55. Jeanne Leder says

I LOVE Kinnikinnick products! But alas! I have not seen these new breads in my favorite store! I’m going to have to do some “digging”…. I’d love to win!

  56. Susan says

I am looking forward to trying these products especially the buns, BBQ season is almost upon us.

  57. Martine says

I have tried many Kinnikinnick products, including their old style hamburger buns which tasted good but had to be toasted or they would fall apart. We like their cinnamon buns, panko crumbs and graham cracker crumbs.

  58. ShaRon says

I have tried the hot dog and hamburger rolls and found them very good and soft and held up well. Very impressed!

  59. Stephanie says

I love the pizza crust. And I believe my favorite local pizzeria uses it for their amazing pizza!

  60. Rebecca says

I love Kinnikinnick’s Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts. They are larger but taste just like the little cinnamon sugar doughnuts from my gluten filled past.
