El’s Gluten Free Snacks Review & Giveaway

El’s Gluten Free Snacks were new to me when I was contacted by the company to review their products.  I was happy to give them a try, though, because I thought they were something my gluten-free son would particularly enjoy.

I’m happy to say he did enjoy them.  We both did.  We tried the snaps and medleys. Both products were crisp, crunchy, and flavorful.

It was the first time I’ve had a bagel chip since going gluten free over ten years ago, so I particularly enjoyed those for that reason.  I enjoyed the Medleys, though, too because they have an interesting variety of foods in them.  They contain bagel chips, corn nuts, corn chips, potato chips, and pretzels.  The Medleys have a stronger flavor than the bagel chips. It is similar to barbecue flavoring.

About their gluten free status, the web site states:

“These snacks were manufactured in a facility that also produces items containing wheat and/or nuts. (But we made our stuff on different days and kept everything really far away from anything that even touched these things.)

Each production run is sampled and tested to confirm gluten levels do not exceed 10 PPM. (So, no gluten for you. Yay!)”

The Medleys do contain soy, but the Bagel Snaps do not.  I like that these products do not contain dairy or GMOs as well as a list of other things you may want to avoid.  Visit their web site to see a list of what they don’t put in their products as well as what they do put in.

The only thing I disliked about these products is the cost, but as gluten-free products go, the price is not surprising.  It’s not the kind of product you can find just anywhere.

To give you an idea, the small bag of Bagel Snaps (1 oz. for $2.99) contained about 1 cup of chips.  The large bag of Medleys (5 oz. for $5.39) contained about 2 cups.

My 13 year old daughter was diagnosed as celiac 7 months ago and we’ve been on a painful learning curve the whole time. We live in a rural area and don’t have reasonable access to a lot of the gluten free products out there. As she is also diabetic, we make trips into the nearest children’s hospital every three months for check ups and stock up on gluten free items whenever possible. One of the things she’s missed the most is flavorful crackers and chips. She’s still able to eat regular corn chips but they don’t seem to fully satisfy the cracker urge. We’d love to try these!
