I was recently introduced to Breakaway Bakery and knew I wanted to do a review when I read their story. My kids have encouraged me to sell my some of my baked goods, but that’s not something I’m interested in pursuing. I greatly respect people who do it, though, and I love helping out small companies like this one.
Breakaway Bakery’s products are free of gluten, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, gums, and soy. They are certified gluten free and organic. They use whole grain brown rice and only a small amount of starch. They offer a wide variety of products. Gluten-free son and I sampled a lot of goodies, but even that wasn’t everything they carry.
These products arrived during a heat wave which I’m sure affected their looks a little bit, but they were still full of great flavor. I sampled the following items:
- Raspberry Crumble Bar
- Chocolate Chip Cookie (thick and chewy)
- Oatmeal Cranberry Chocolate Chip Cookie
- Lemon Bar
- Lil Mint Scoutie
- Orange Brownie Dipper
- Cherry Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie
- Mint Dipper (soft)
- Cinnamon Chocolate Chip Mandel Bread
- Plain Roll
I wish I had gotten a video of my son trying these treats. He’s 21 years old, and not a cute little boy anymore, but you still would have gotten a kick out of him saying, “This is all gluten and dairy free?” and “Oh, that’s good!” and “Wow, that’s really lemony,” and “How much do these cost? Can we buy some?” and other great comments.
While we liked a few things the best, all of it was good. There wasn’t a single item we didn’t like. Jared’s favorites were the first four items listed above.
I loved the lemon bar and I also really liked the roll. It was dense, but soft and moist with very nice texture.
I have to add that the heart shaped bread on the plate is a sample of their plain bread, which I thought was a little dry until I learned that it had only been placed in the package to help keep the cookies moist!
